The End of Eternity, and Other Small Matters

Today I finally finished reading The End of Eternity by Isaac Asimov.  I've had this book for a few months, early to mid August, but I didn't start reading it until last week.  Why?  and why did it take so long?  Well, I didn't start reading it earlier because I mistakenly believed it to be the last book in Asimov's Empire series--the book was given to me for my birthday, which was celebrated late.  I realized my mistake awhile ago, looking on the inside cover revealed that it was actually a stand-alone novel--and considered to be one of Asimov's finest.  As you might imagine that had me salivating pretty bad there, but I was still able to resist starting for awhile, focusing instead on schoolwork, work, reading articles online (more on that later), etc.  Last week I finally picked it up.  The beginning of the book was interesting, explaining the use of Eternity in the book, but not captivating, and I was able to put the book down for a whole week.  The close of the book, however, was a different story entirely.  The paradoxes of "time-travel" explained were fascinating for me, especially as the protagonist Andrew Harlan tried to wrap his mind around them and work against and with them.  I'm a big fan of Isaac Asimov, and would recommend this to all Science Fiction fans, though I still think the Foundation Trilogy was his best work.

And now about Fork Fest.  I went for a few hours last week, and think it was a prime example of why I'm choosy about what concerts I attend.  I listened to around 5 artists there, and could only stand two of them for more than about five minutes.  Maybe I'm too picky, I sure try not to be.

So, I seem to have gotten completely away from posting about music.  Which is okay.  I haven't had a ton of songs jump out to me lately and say, "I'm your next blog post!"  I guess my current form of escapism is written instead of heard.  So, I have a number of books I haven't read before waiting to be read.  On the top is I Shall Wear Midnight by Terry Pratchett.  After that is . . . come to think of it, I'm not really sure.  I'm trying to reread the WoT before Towers of Midnight comes out, or I get the opportunity to read it anyway, which probably won't be the same thing.  For now just be reassured that I will continue to write about whatever strikes my fancy, be sure of that.
